Finance for entrepreneursWhen it comes to setting up your own company, one of the difficulties you may face as an entrepreneur or small business owner is the issue of finance, since it is often the first time we “meet” them. Many entrepreneurs have (and should have) their focus on the idea and the business plan, but without updating the financial issue, the future of your project may be at risk. To try to alleviate these deficiencies, Sebastián Barajas, Gloria Ribas and Patricio Hunt have written the book”Finance as a management tool for SMEs”, a simple and practical manual for small business owners or managers to interpret their economic-financial data. As explained by the authors:”Finance is the best instrument we have in business life to evaluate and rationalize any business, so that good ideas become sustainable businesses in the long term” .The authors argue that although in the past professional and technified financial management was only available to large companies, it is now available to any type of company, including small companies and entrepreneurs. The fact is that the techniques, tools and models of financial management that have been used for years in large companies are highly developed and the authors state that practically all of them can be adapted and used in the management of SMEs. The book is therefore presented as a manual in which we will learn about those techniques, tools and models to adapt them to a small company and that its managers can know if they are applying professional financial management. The final objective of the book is that any owner of a small or medium-sized companies can answer 5 key questions that can guarantee the survival of the project:

  • Do we have a good business?
  • How solvent is my company?
  • How much cash are we going to generate in the next five years?
  • How much is my business worth?
  • Can we buy the company from our main competitor?

The book is now on sale published by Bedside Books and it can be ordered both in physical version (with a price of 18 Euros) and in digital version (at 9 Euros) at this link (See book).
