Grants in the form of a non-refundable grant for “Last Mile” digitization projects in companies in the tourism sector

The call has a total budget of 104 M€.

The call, within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, aims to mobilize projects that contain, among others, improvements in digitalization and intelligence applied to management, promotion, enhancement and dissemination for destinations and the tourism sector.

Beneficiaries

Companies in the tourism sector, with their own legal personality and registered office in Spain; non-profit associations, federations and confederations in the tourism sector and companies whose activity allows them to become technological partners with demonstrable experience in the tourism sector.

Eligible projects for last-mile digitization grants in the tourism sector

  • Line 1: Innovative technological development projects
  • Line 2: Projects for the implementation and adoption of new technologies
  • Line 3: Projects for the implementation and adoption by SMEs of technologies previously tested in the market with low technological risk or in general of digitization processes of their activities.

Type of help

Grants, awarded on a competitive basis. The maximum intensity for projects framed in line 1 and 2 will be 50%. When large companies participate, the maximum intensity for them will be 15% of the bankable budget. For line 3, the maximum intensity will be 100% of the fundable budget.

Main requirements of digitization aid for the tourism sector:

  • Line 1: Have a budget of between 300,000 and 3M€ and a maximum duration of 12 months, starting from the final resolution of the concession.
  • Line 2: Have a budget of between 200,000 and 750,000€ and a maximum duration of 12 months, starting from the final resolution of the concession.
  • Line 3: Have a minimum budget of €20,000 and a maximum duration of 9 months, starting from the final resolution of the concession.

Eligible expenses

For line 1 and 2:

  • Expenses of workforce directly related to the implementation of the project.
  • Costs of instruments, equipment, buildings and land, to the extent and during the implementation period to which they are used for the project.
  • Costs of contract research, knowledge and patents acquired or obtained by license from external sources under conditions of full competition.
  • General expenses and other additional operating expenses.

For line 3:

  • Expenses of workforce directly related to the implementation of the project.
  • Expenses of external assistance, such as analysis, technical assistance, preparation of protocols or previous reports.
  • Costs of buying, leasing, renting and acquisition of any tangible and intangible asset.
  • Expenses of expendable material.
  • General expenses and other costs related to the project and necessary for its development and start-up.

Criteria for evaluating digitization aid for the tourism sector

  • Scientific-technical quality
  • Strategic criteria: Project scalability, applicants' technical management capacity, etc.
  • Cross-cutting criteria: Coherence of the financial needs of the proposal, the structure of the funding, sustainability over time, etc. The overdimensioning of the budget will be negatively assessed.
