The Center for Industrial Technological Development (CDTI) in Spain manages several lines of funding for research, development and innovation projects. Two of these lines are the Research and Development Projects (PID) and the Cervera Projects.
In today's video, we explain the main differences between them:
The Cervera Projects are aimed at strategic technological areas and require collaboration with Cervera Technology Centers, while the PIDs have a broader focus and can be executed by individual companies.
In addition, Cervera Projects can cover up to 90% of the total budget, while PIDs cover up to 85%. Cervera Projects usually offer a higher non-refundable tranche (up to 33%) compared to PIDs where the maximum non-refundable tranche is 30%. The participation of Technology Centres is mandatory in the Cervera Projects. Specifically, a minimum of 10% of the total project budget must be allocated to this collaboration. While in PIDs, collaboration with external entities is optional.
On the other hand, the Cervera line limits the guarantee requirement to 25% for small companies with projects of up to one million euros, while for PID projects, this guarantee limit is established for projects of up to 500,000 euros.
Therefore, if the company already has a first CDTI PID and it is not yet profitable, the second project should be submitted through the CDTI Cervera line so as not to increase excessive guarantees.
