WMware has analyzed some aspects to find out how small and medium-sized businesses perform in the United States: what decisions they make and with respect to what areas of the business, what type of entrepreneurs lead them, which sectors are growing the most in number of companies or how they are adopting new technologies such as cloud computing. Below, we summarize the interesting points of the report: - The presentation of the study begins with data on the number of small companies that currently exist in the United States. Of course, stand out the companies with 1 to 4 employees (there are more than 3,600,000), compared to large companies: 981 have more than 10,000 employees and 975 have between 5,000 and 10,000 employees.- operations, the stewardship, the communication, the finances And the technology used are the aspects that most condition the decisions of these organizations. Less important are the human resources And the I&D.- In 2011, these six sectors grew the most in number of businesses, all of them service businesses: environmental consulting, real estate appraisal, ecommerce/online auctions, debt collection, advertising agency services and employee training. It is interesting to compare these sectors with those published by LinkedIn in an infographic.- As WMware's work focuses on cloud computing, the infographic closes with data on its adoption. The study estimates that 68% of small businesses around the world are making efforts to introduce cloud computing andserver virtualization in the management of their businesses. The companies with the largest staff (500 to 1000) are the ones that invest the most in it, but even in these companies WMW detects a certain delay (more than 20% of them have not yet allocated any funds to adapt the cloud to their activities).
