Nuclis I+D Green 2023: Calls are open for projects in the field of Circular Economy and Climate Change.

Nuclis I+D Green 2023 will award grants of up to 250,000€ for projects in the field of Circular Economy and Climate Change.

ACCIÓ will grant grants of up to 250,000€, through the calls of Nuclis I+D Green, for projects with a minimum budget of 120,000€.

Nuclis I+D Green in climate change

Purpose of the call

To help companies carry out R&D projects to solve and improve the effects of the climate emergency.

Beneficiaries

Companies with an operating establishment in Catalonia and with at least 2 years of experience and TECNIO accredited centers.

Type of aid and intensity

Grants from up to 250,000€ for projects related to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions: the development of sustainable materials, improvements in the water cycle, advancing renewable energy or implementing sustainable mobility initiatives, among others. The intensity of the aid will vary depending on the size of the company and the type of project, following this scheme:

  • Small Businesses: Research Projects: 70% and Development Projects: 45%
  • Medium-sized Businesses: Research Projects: 60% and Development Projects: 35%
  • Large Companies: Research Projects: 50% and Development Projects: 25%

TECNIO centers will be able to access a maximum grant of 100,000€.

Main requirements:

  • The R&D projects in this call should aim at generating products, processes or services that are aligned with the following areas: The reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, such as the development of sustainable materials, renewable energy and sustainable mobility. And adaptation to the impacts of climate change and the reduction of the vulnerability of natural and socio-economic systems, such as efficiency in the use of water, soil and energy, improvement of biodiversity and contribution to the resilience of the territory.
  • The projects must be led by a Catalan company and aim at the advancement of technology in relation to the levels of technological readiness (TRL) ranging from TRL 3 to TRL 7.
  • The maximum duration of projects must be 3 years, starting from the date of the request for the aid.
  • Projects must be technically feasible.

Eligible expenses

  • Expenses of technical personnel hired by the company and dedicated to the R&D project.
  • TECNIO developer's personnel expenses dedicated to the R&D project.
  • Expenses for external collaborations and/or subcontracts necessary for the project (only for applicant companies).
  • Other expenses directly related to the project.
  • Indirect costs.

Assessment Criteria

  • Technological value of the project: Up to 150 points. The minimum score will be 75 points.
  • Execution plan - project management: Up to 100 points. The minimum score will be 50 points.
  • Impact of the project: Up to 250 points. The minimum score will be 125 points.

Required Documentation

Technical report of the project together with a detailed budget for the project.

Nuclis R&D Green in the circular economy

Purpose of the call

Encourage new research and development projects related to waste, with the objective of initiating new projects or improving existing ones based on technological innovations.

Beneficiaries

Companies with an operating establishment in Catalonia and with at least 2 years of experience and TECNIO accredited centers.

Type of aid and intensity

Grants from up to 250,000€ for industrial research and experimental development projects in the circular economy, related to the prevention and proper management of waste. The intensity of the aid will vary depending on the size of the company and the type of project, following this scheme:

  • Small Businesses: Research projects: 70% Development projects: 45%
  • Medium-sized Businesses: Research projects: 60% Development projects: 35%
  • Large Companies:Research projects: 50% Development projects: 25%
