What is the CDTI?

The Center for Industrial Technological Development is the instrument of the General State Administration (CDTI) is a public entity that manages, subsidizes and internationalizes business R&D projects. In addition, it regulates Spanish participation in international R+D+I organizations, such as Horizon 2020 and Eureka.

It is the body that manages requests for aid and support for innovative projects by Spanish companies at the national and international levels.

What is the purpose of the CDTI?

The objective of the CDTI is to contribute to the improvement of the technological level of technology companies through the following functions: - Support for the creation and consolidation of technology-based companies.

Promotion and management of Spanish collaboration in international technological cooperation programs.- Approval of public aid for innovation through grants or partially reimbursable grants for R&D projects developed by companies and technical-economic evaluation.- Promotion of the international transfer of business technology and support services for technological R&D.

Because of the state of alarm, is the CDTI operating normally?

Yes, the CDTI operates normally even though we are in a state of alarm. The provision, evaluation and approval of grants are still open, since all processes can be carried out online. In addition, CDTI is implementing tools to make the justification of aid more flexible.

Only grants and administrative procedures are affected, and those applicable to the third and fourth additional provisions of Royal Decree 463/2020, of March 14, on the suspension of processing deadlines.

How does the suspension of administrative deadlines affect CDTI aid?

The expected deadlines that are currently in progress are temporarily suspended until the state of alarm ends. When the situation is good again, the deadline calculations will resume.

For example, deadlines for submitting applications, advances, modifications, grants, justification, and others. My project was submitted before March 14th of this year.

Can I benefit from warranty exemptions?

Projects that have not yet been approved but were submitted before March 14 will be able to benefit from warranty exemptions in accordance with CDTI criteria.

My project was submitted and approved before March 14, 2020. Can I benefit from warranty exemptions?

Approved projects are already in the execution phase and are not eligible for the exemption, so they will not be able to benefit.

In order to proceed with the signing of projects that have already been approved, must we wait until the state of alarm ends or will a digital telematic procedure be made available?

If the project is already approved and is pending signature, the CDTI will contact you to indicate the steps to follow.

Can foreign companies based in Spain apply for CDTI?

In order to apply for CDTI, the company must have a tax address in Spain.
