If you are an entrepreneur with a technology-based company and you live in Catalonia, you may be interested to know that you have some very interesting formulas for financing yourself through public money. One of them is Startup Capital, an aid whose purpose is to support the growth of technological startups and which aims to give this type of company a qualitative leap so that they reach a valuation that may be more attractive to investors.Startup Capital It is a non-refundable grant that does not require any endorsement. Thus, this is a great advantage, since you should not return the money nor will you have any interest for it. It is generally intended for startups in the early stages. As a differential factor, these companies must have their own technology and be in the initial phase, requiring help to be able to raise a first round of private equity financing. The amount of aid is always greater than 45,000 euros and a maximum of 75,000 euros for each project. However, there are several requirements for granting it. First of all, founders must own more than 51% of the shares. In addition, each startup cannot have received an external investment that exceeds 400,000 euros (including public and private funds).

Objective of the investment

Startup Capital will only provide its aid to those startups that are Catalan or established in Catalonia that intend to achieve a certain milestone and for which they will use the money received. This milestone to be financed will last 18 months. The grant will only go to start-up companies that are going to allocate the funds to actions related to the business plan. These can range from the management and administration of operations to the development and commercialization of products and services.

How proposals are evaluated

To decide who the Startup Capital grant is awarded to, a scoring system is used in which the highest possible score would be 500. The evaluation criterion that would weigh the most would be the team, accounting for 30% of the final score. Next would be the business model and the technological innovation presented by the startup, both accounting for 20% of the rating. Then there would be the impact, financial viability and technical viability, all of them representing 10% of the final grade.
