Grants of up to 200,000 euros for AI projects developed by startups and SMEs in Madrid

A new line of grants has been published for companies in the Community of Madrid that develop projects in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI) applied to industry (2024)

The purpose of the program is to support small and medium-sized enterprises in the Community of Madrid for the integration of Artificial Intelligence into their value chains, participating in the funding of experimental development projects whose state of technological maturity corresponds to levels 6, 7 and 8.

SMEs that carry out their activities in the Community of Madrid

Type of help

Non-refundable grants of up to 200,000€ with a maximum intensity of 25% of eligible expenses.

The maximum grant intensity may be increased up to 60% according to the following:

  • An additional 10% if the applicant entity is a medium-sized company.
  • An additional 20% if the applicant entity is a small business.
  • An additional 15% if the requesting entity undertakes to disseminate the results of the project through conferences, publications, open access databases or free or open source software.

Main requirements of Madrid grants for AI projects:

  • Accredit the status of a small or medium-sized company through certification issued by the Chamber of Commerce.
  • Be registered under the corresponding heading of the IAE (Economic Activities Tax).
  • Inform the Department of Digitalization of the grants received during the previous three years.
  • Projects must be completed by June 30, 2025.
  • Belong to the Related theme.
  • The level of technological maturity of the projects or TRL must be a minimum of 6

Eligible projects:

Artificial Intelligence use case development projects applied to the industry, framed in:

  • Integrated planning.
  • Operations and manufacturing.
  • Reliability and maintenance.
  • Outbound logistics.
  • Post delivery service.

Eligible expenses:

  • Staff Expenses: Limited to those derived from the hiring of new temporary staff and to the costs of permanent staff for activities directly related to the project subject to the grant.
  • Equipment costs: Limited to the amortization costs of new equipment necessary for the execution of the project.
  • Other non-recurring expenses related to the project: Expendable costs, subcontracting, etc.
  • Indirect costs: Limited to 15% of direct costs.

Documentation necessary to obtain Grants for the use of Artificial Intelligence applied to Industry in the Community of Madrid

Technical and economic report of the eligible project. Including:

  • Evidences that prove the use of Artificial Intelligence algorithms in the project to be implemented in the applicant company
  • Problem or need detected and objectives to be achieved
  • Description of the category, subcategory and theme of those indicated above, in which the project will be framed and their justification.
  • Description of the degree of technological maturity (TRL) that is intended to be achieved and justification for this
  • Description of the engineering and/or consulting tasks to be performed and description of the product/service and documents expected to be generated in the project
  • Description of the investments in hardware and software to be addressed in the project subject to the grant. Clarify the relationship with the project and the need for it.
  • Detailed analysis of the Artificial Intelligence solution applied to be implemented.
  • Total and detailed budget of the project, which clearly and separately includes the eligible costs.
  • Estimated hours for each of the tasks to be performed (dedications).
  • Project execution schedule.

Deadline for submitting applications for new aid for AI projects by companies in Madrid

Until funding is exhausted or December 31, 2024.
