The financial institution has been developing initiatives to support entrepreneurship for years, some of them are already known, such as the XXI Entrepreneur Award, and others have just come to light. This is explained by Rafael Herrador, territorial director of CaixaBank in Madrid:
“We need more success stories from domestic companies to help consolidate our country as a global entrepreneurial ecosystem and continue to attract international investment from major foreign venture capital funds. We need more companies like Privalia, which in 2016 was sold to VentePrivé for more than 500 million euros, and others that, like Cabify or Glovo, are getting high-volume capital injections.”
The different instruments to support the development of innovative companies are:ENTREPRENEUR XXI AWARDS The EmprendedorXXI Awards is an initiative that aims to contribute to the development of innovative startups with high growth potential in Spain and Portugal. Over time, around 7,000 newly created companies have participated in the EmprendedorXXI Awards.DAYONEIt is a CaixaBank service that was created in 2017, designed to support, develop and accompany young companies that carry out value-added activities and are financed with their own funds. Companies must be rapidly developing and have a global reach. It has centers in Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, and business managers in Bilbao and Malaga.
“These spaces are conceived as true hubs for the meeting of talent and capital, where customers of DayOne they can participate in small-format networking events and have meeting rooms at their disposal to hold meetings with potential investors, partners, customers and suppliers”, summarizes Herrador.
OPEN INNOVATIONIt is one of the most innovative services available. CaixaBank has been recognized as a finalist thanks to this initiative. The open line has a clear and intuitive design for the user, with essential and meaningful information. For the new design, user opinions and recommendations have been taken into account.#CONTIGOMÁSQUENUNCACaixaBank has also created a new initiative to mitigate the effects of Covid-19, aimed at reducing the economic burdens of customers.Pensioners: CaixaBank has anticipated the collection of Social Security pensions to one of the most vulnerable groups to avoid crowds in banks and put their health at risk. In addition, it has initiated a pre-appointment information system for clients over 65, with the objective of collecting their pension.Families: CaixaBank also offers help to those families who, due to the current situation, have seen their income decrease. The entity will exempt rents from tenants of homes owned by its real estate subsidiary BuildingCenter. In addition, CaixaBank has decided to extend the mortgage moratorium for those affected by the situation until September. The procedure can be done online.Self-employed workers and SMEs: CaixaBank has made available a line of 25,000 million euros in loans for more than 115,000 microenterprises (legal entities with a turnover of up to 2 million euros), 440,000 self-employed workers and 52,000 small businesses (legal entities with a turnover of 2 to 10 million euros).
