El IFEM participatory loan is aimed at innovative, technological and/or science-based entrepreneurs, with headquarters in Catalonia and, with high growth potential, who seek funding for their projects in the early stages.
The Institut Català de Finances (ICF), manages through IFEM (Financial Instruments for Innovative Companies), the support for the creation and development of innovative startups through venture capital and co-investment programs with Business Angels through grants in the form of participatory loans. The beneficiaries of IFEM They are those innovative, technological and/or science-based entrepreneurs or companies based in Catalonia and with high growth potential and, who are in the process of seeking funding for their projects in the early stages. IFEM acts as an investor in seed venture capital funds that invest in companies based in Catalonia. Among the main characteristics of IFEM, its modality in the form of a participatory loan, its up to 5 years of amortization with a one-year grace period and a variable interest rate, and its bankable budgets ranging from 50,000 to 200,000€ stand out. The entity has managed resources for the implementation of the JEREMIE Initiative of the Regional Development Fund (ERDF) in Catalonia within the framework of the Operational Program 2007-2013. It is currently reinvesting the returns on the investments it has made within the framework of the Jeremie Program. In 2016, the ICF invested 2.25 million euros in direct funding of 15 startups, of which 7 are startups advised by Intelectium: 21 Buttons, a fashion app that allows users to label their looks and earn money through brands (€200,000), 500 markets, a technological startup that develops and operates 100% mobile marketplaces focused on buying and selling second-hand items (€200,000), Foodie & Tours, Online travel agency specialized in gastronomic tourism (50,000€), My Story, a startup that creates personalized books and stories for children and babies (150,000€), Mind The Byte, a pioneering bioinformatics company in the use of Saas-Cloud technology for the computational design of drugs (75,000€), Psycho Smart Apps, a startup that develops an app that treats phobias through therapists (€200,000) and Wide Eyes Technologies, visual search software for clothing and accessories based on Big Data (150,000€).
