IGAPE 2024 Grants: Funding for startups and SMEs in Galicia

IGAPE offers funding to encourage the start-up and development and consolidation of viable business projects.

With the main objective of, among others, increasing the competitiveness of the business fabric and attracting investment to Galicia, IGAPE offers different lines of financing in the form of grants and participatory loans for companies that carry out business activities within the territory.

Workshops on Industry 4.0

Objective:

Encourage collaboration between companies for the development of projects that involve the implementation of sectoral digital collaborative tools, through the organization of workshops.

Type of funding:

Non-refundable grant, incompatible with other public aid or subsidies. The amount of the grant will represent 100% of the eligible expenses of the project, with a maximum limit of €25,000.

Beneficiaries:

Entities with their own legal personality, non-profit and whose registered office or work center is located in Galicia. And, technological centers and support centers for technological innovation.

Main requirements:

In each project, a minimum of 6 different companies must participate, which must meet, compulsorily, on a monthly basis.

Eligible expenses:

Eligible expenses will be those directly related to the organization of the workshops, such as external collaborations or personnel costs of the intermediate body.

Evaluation of the project:

Projects must obtain a minimum score of 60 points in order to be eligible for aid. The evaluation criteria established by IGAPE are:

  • Project size: 0/20. The projects will receive 2 points for each of the participating companies.
  • Technical quality of the project: 0/25 points. Maturity of the proposal:
  • 0/10. Regarding the definition of the theme and objectives of the meeting space.
  • Intensity of the participation of companies to promote: 0/5
  • Use of proven methodologies: 0/5. Both for the dynamization of groups and for the generation of ideas.
  • Diversity: 0/3. Regarding the position in the sectoral value chain of the participating companies.
  • Concrete proposals for collaboration with IGAPE: 0/2. In the dissemination of project results.
  • Sector or area of activity in which the project is being carried out: 0/15. Priority will be given to projects where most of the participating companies belong to strategic (maritime, agri-food, etc.) or emerging and high-potential (aeronautical, ICT, etc.) sectors, defined in the Competitiveness Agenda.
  • Intermediate agency experience in managing collaborative projects: 0/20. The evaluation will take into account the 3 years immediately preceding the request for the aid.
  • Tractor effect in the sector: 0/20.

Until 01/07/2021.

Grants for industry 4.0

Objective:

Encourage the development of digitalization projects for the implementation of solutions aimed at the digital support of a company's processes or for digital process interconnection projects.

Type of funding:

Non-refundable grant. The maximum aid intensity will be 50% of the eligible expenses. For those companies belonging to the automotive, fashion and auxiliary naval sectors, which show a minimum drop in revenues of 25% in 2020 compared to 2019 revenues, the maximum intensity of aid will be 70% of eligible expenses.

Beneficiaries:

SMEs that have a work center in Galicia where they can develop the project.

Main requirements:

The typology of collective projects is defined as:

  • Use and implementation of a specific system for your digital interactions.
  • Implementation of a digitalization system specifically designed or developed for your field of activity.

The typology of individual projects is defined as:

  • Development of a digital interface for business interactions.
  • Development of artificial intelligence systems, machine learning, autonomous decision-making...
  • Implementation of systems aimed at the digitalization of specific processes or comprehensive management.

In addition, for both types, projects, which must have a minimum eligible cost of €12,000, must be completed and be both technically and economically viable.

Eligible expenses:

Both new tangible and intangible investments and external technological or organizational collaborations and software subscription costs will be the main object of the grant.

Evaluation of the project:

IGAPE establishes the following criteria for the effective evaluation of projects.

  • Technical quality of the project: 0/54. Degree of prior analysis of the situation and coherence: 0/9. Feasibility of the project: 0/9. Implementation of systems already developed and tested in business reality: 0/9. Expected competitive improvements: 0/9. Technological level and breadth of the proposed solution: 0/9. Degree of elaboration and concreteness of the proposal: 0/9.
  • Degree of project interoperability: 0/36. Number of companies benefited by the project: 0/16. The project will receive 4 points for each of the participating companies. Intensity at the level of process interaction between companies: 0/10. Diversity: 0/10. The degree of diversity of the projects will be evaluated based on the position of the participants in the sector's value chain and on the proposed interaction between companies.
  • Sector or area of activity in which the project is being carried out: 0/5.

Deadline for submitting applications:

Until 01/07/2021.

Loans for strategic investments

Objective:

Encourage the development of projects that involve new investments, expansion of the company's productive capacity or improvement of existing facilities.

Type of funding:

Loans of between 500,000 and 5M euros. The maximum aid intensity will be 50% of the total eligible expenditure.

Key funding conditions:

  • The return period will be a maximum of 12 years. -Quarterly amortization. -Interest rate: It will never be less than 0%.

Beneficiaries:

Natural or legal persons who carry out a business initiative, included among the eligible sectors of activity, with a work center in Galicia.

Main requirements:

The financial contribution of the individuals or companies benefiting from the project must represent, at least, 25% of the project. In addition, eligible projects must be linked to the activities established as eligible, which are defined in the following sectors of activity (CNAE):

  • 03 Fishing and aquaculture
  • 05 to 09 Extractive industries
  • 10 to 33 manufacturing industries
  • 35-39 Energy and water supply, and waste management and decontamination
  • 42 to 43 Network construction and specialized construction
  • 46 Wholesale trade and brokerage, except for motor vehicles and motorcycles
  • 49-53 Transportation and storage
  • 55 to 56 hospitality
  • 58-63 Information and communications
  • 69-75 Professional, scientific and technical activities
  • 77.3 Rental of machinery, equipment and tangible assets
  • 79 Travel agencies, tour operators, booking services and related activities.
  • 80-82 Security and research activities and other ancillary business activities
  • 87 to 88 Assistance in residential establishments and social services without housing
  • 90-93 Arts, Recreation and Entertainment Activities

Eligible expenses:

Tangible and intangible assets and working capital (which may not exceed 50% of total eligible expenses).

Evaluation of the project:

On this occasion, the IGAPE does not establish any specific evaluation criteria for the granting of loans. Thus, the projects submitted will be evaluated based on pre-established risk rating thresholds.

Loans to finance investments in shared-use infrastructure and project development by technology centers and business associations

Objective:

Finance the development of projects, carried out by Technology Centres or business associations, linked to productive sectors in Galicia and aimed at creating technical and industrial infrastructures for common or shared use and the generation of technological knowledge, support for R + D + i and other technological services.

Type of funding:

Loans of between 75,000 and 1.5M euros. The maximum aid intensity will be 75% of the total eligible expenditure.

Key funding conditions:

  • The return period will be a maximum of 12 years.
  • Quarterly amortization.
  • Interest rate: It will never be lower than 0%.

Beneficiaries:

Companies that develop an entrepreneurial initiative in a workplace in Galicia.

Main requirements:

  • The economic contribution of the beneficiary companies to the project must represent, at least, 25% of the project.
  • The beneficiary entities must be technology centers or business associations linked to productive sectors in Galicia.
  • The eligible expenses of the project must represent, at least, 100,000€.

Eligible expenses:

Tangible assets (for the production or supply of goods or services), intangible assets, expenses derived from research, development and innovation, and investment in working capital (for payment to suppliers and operational payments).

Evaluation of the project:

Projects must obtain a minimum score of 50 points in order to be eligible for aid. The evaluation criteria established by IGAPE are:

  • Sector of activity. 0/50.
  • Presence of business groups or driving companies with recognized solvency: 0/40.
  • Existence of investments in scientific and technological equipment: 0/20.
  • Existence of technologies related to the factory of the future and the Industry 4.0 concept: 0/40.
  • Related employment: 0/20.

To grant the loan, IGAPE will also evaluate the company's credit risk.

Until 30/12/2021.

Regional economic incentives

Objective:

Encourage the implementation of business projects capable of correcting existing territorial imbalances.

Type of funding:

Non-refundable grant. The maximum aid intensity will vary depending on the size of the beneficiary company.

Beneficiaries: Individuals or legal entities with Spanish nationality or with the status of residents.

Main requirements:

  • To be considered projects to create new establishments, they must give rise to a new business activity and lead to the creation of new jobs.
  • To be considered application projects, they must involve a significant increase in productive capacity.
  • To be considered modernization projects, they must result in the diversification of an establishment's production or assume a fundamental transformation in the overall production process.
  • The economic contribution of the beneficiary companies to the project must represent, at least, 25% of the project.
  • Projects must be technically, economically and financially feasible.
  • The eligible expenses of the project must represent, at least, 900,000€.

Eligible expenses:

In general terms, eligible expenses will be fixed assets of a material nature. Exceptionally, intangible assets may be eligible for aid, as long as they do not exceed 30% of the total eligible project.
