Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) It leaves us with very positive data about the scenario in which women entrepreneurs find themselves. This report is coordinated by the Santander International Entrepreneurship Center (CISE), with the sponsorship of Banco Santander, the Rafael del Pino Foundation and Enisa.
Although the gender gap between female entrepreneurs and male entrepreneurs is still large, in Spain the gender gap has narrowed by 36% in the last 10 years, according to the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) Special Report on Women's Entrepreneurship.
The latest 2018/19 Report also highlights that in Spain nine women start a business for every ten men, unlike Europe, which has six women entrepreneurs for every ten men. Therefore, we affirm that currently Spain leads the way in parity in European entrepreneurship.
On the other hand, another important aspect to consider is that the Female Entrepreneurial Activity Rate (it measures all entrepreneurial initiatives under three and a half years old that exist in the market) has increased from 5.6% to 6%.
Thanks to these reports, we can see that the business landscape is changing, breaking the gender gap and creating new forms of business among women. Women who have decided to change the environment by promoting positive changes in society. Despite this improvement compared to previous years, there is still room for further progress.
