New call for the PERTE Agrifood Sector 2024: Grants of up to 4 M€ for companies with industrial projects.

If you have a company dedicated to the preparation, production or processing of food, as well as the manufacture of beverages or similar activities, you are interested in this new line of aid.

The call for the PERTE Agrifood Sector 2024 has a total budget of 100 M€, which will be increased by 200 M€, granted in the form of loans in subsequent calls.

Beneficiaries of the PERTE Agrifood Sector 2024

SMEs with their own legal personality and legally constituted in Spain that carry out activities for the preparation, production or transformation of food, as well as the manufacture of beverages and the tobacco industry or similar activities.

Those activities carried out in the field of the agri-food industry consisting, among others, of the calibration, classification, handling, transformation, preservation and packaging of food products will also be admitted.

Type of aid

Non-competitive grants with a maximum intensity of 80% of the fundable budget.

  • The intensity of the grant will depend on the type of project and the type of beneficiary company.
  • The grant obtained by the company for the total of its projects will be up to 4 M€.

Projects eligible for PERTE Agrifood 2024

Companies that develop projects that fall within any of the following lines of action may be eligible for aid:

  • Lines of Research, Development and Innovation: Industrial research projects, experimental development, and innovation projects in the field of organization and processes, in the following areas:
    1. Industrial search
    2. Experimental development projects
    3. Organizational innovation projects
    4. Process innovation projects
  • Innovation Line in Sustainability and Energy Efficiency:
    1. Innovative investments aimed at protecting the environment
    2. Innovative investments in energy savings or renewable energy measures
  • SME investment line: Projects carried out exclusively by SMEs aimed at investment in tangible and intangible assets related to the industrial process in the field of the agri-food industry:
    1. Expansions of the productive capacity of an existing establishment
    2. Building productive capacity in a new facility
    3. Diversification of the production of an existing establishment into additional new products
    4. Fundamental transformation of the overall production process of an existing facility

In addition, projects will have to be framed in one of the following thematic priorities:

  • Circular economy and eco-innovation:
    1. Design, evolution and/or implementation of production systems for the ecological transition
    2. Optimization of resources, raw materials and reduction of waste
    3. Reuse, recycling and use of secondary raw materials
    4. Ecodesign with circular economy criteria
  • Decarbonization, energy efficiency, new sources of renewable energy and reduction of polluting emissions:
    1. Implementation and use of technologies and production processes that are more efficient and less intensive in the use of energy and raw materials
    2. Implementation and use of technologies for decarbonization such as the use of new sources of renewable energy
    3. Implementing technologies that reduce greenhouse gas emissions
    4. Development of new products with a low carbon footprint in their life cycle
  • Advanced materials and products
  • Innovation in quality and safety processes:
    1. New testing and validation methodologies
    2. Quality improvements compared to those established in norms and standards
    3. Process and product traceability
  • Projects based on digital technologies:
    1. Platforms for interconnecting the company's value chain
    2. Solutions for advanced data processing
    3. Artificial intelligence solutions
    4. Industrial Simulation Project
    5. Design and additive manufacturing
    6. Augmented reality, virtual reality and artificial vision projects
    7. Collaborative and cognitive robotics
    8. Sensory

For Research, Development and Innovation Line projects:

For the projects of the Innovation Line in Sustainability and Energy Efficiency:
