The CDTI Missions Program is a project aimed at supporting Sectorial Strategic Initiatives for Business Innovation.
It is part of the State Program for Business Leadership in R+D+i of the State Plan for Scientific, Technical and Innovation Research 2017-2020. The objective of the project is develop multi-sector and multi-technological R&D initiatives that respond to the country's needs and contribute to achieving any of the following challenges:
- Promote a large sustainable and healthy agri-food sector.
- Safe, Efficient and Clean Energy for the 21st Century
- Provide a sustainable response to diseases and needs derived from aging.
- Sustainable and intelligent mobility
- Promoting Spanish industry in the industrial revolution of the 21st century
Therefore, the selected projects will be evaluated for their degree of innovation and for the requirements mentioned above, and the contribution to the country's needs must be key.
There are two project categories: Large Companies and SMEs.
- Budget for Large Companies: Minimum of 5,000,000 euros and maximum of 10,000,000 euros. The minimum eligible budget per company is 175,000 euros. The duration of the projects must be between 3 and 4 years, starting in 2020. At least 20% of the eligible budget must be outsourced to Knowledge Generating Centers.
- Budget for SMEs: Minimum of 1,500,000 euros and maximum of 3,000,000 euros. The minimum eligible budget per company is 175,000 euros. The duration of the projects must be between 2 and 3 years, starting in 2020. Minimum industrial research must accumulate 60% of the eligible budget. At least 15% of the eligible budget must be outsourced to Knowledge Generating Centers.
No participant can be responsible for more than 50% of the eligible project budget.
What type of call for grants is it?
These are grants in the form of competitive competition with specific deadlines for submission. The type of funding is in the form of a non-refundable grant.
What is the budget for the CDTI Missions call?
The total amount allocated to the call is 70,000,000 euros. From this budget, 10,000,000 euros will be reserved for “SME” Mission projects. If, after its evaluation, the reserve for SMEs does not run out, the difference will instead be allocated to “Large Business” Mission projects.
What are the features of help?
CDTI Missions is a grant of up to 65% for Large Companies, 75% for Medium Enterprises and 80% for Small Businesses.
For each project and beneficiary, the limit of aid intensity will be marked by the weight of each type of activity (industrial research or experimental development) and by the maximum intensity corresponding to each case.
The amount of aid may not exceed the thresholds established in Article 4 of the EU Regulation of June 17, 2014.
Does it allow generating a motivated report?
Yes, the acceptance and funding of projects by CDTI Missions generates a motivated report.
What expenses are eligible?
All those direct execution costs: personnel costs, instruments and inventoriable material, contractual research, technical knowledge and patents acquired at market prices, general expenses and additional operating expenses that derive directly from the project and the expense of the auditor's report.
What is the deadline for submission?
The application deadline is April 15, 2020.
What are the evaluation criteria?
In the technical report of the project, the technology and innovation of the project will be evaluated with a score of 0 to 40 points. The capacity of the consortium in relation to the presented project will be evaluated from 0 to 35 points and the assessment of the socio-economic and environmental impact from 0 to 25 points.
Compatibility of the aid
The aid granted within the framework of this call is made incompatible during its execution period with any other public aid at European, state or regional level that has identical objectives and purposes.

What is the CDTI?
El CDTI o Center for Industrial Technological Development is the instrument of the General State Administration that manages, subsidizes and internationalizes business R&D projects. It also regulates Spanish participation in international R+D+I organizations, such as Horizon 2020 and Eureka.
