Startup of the Week: Colvin

Colvin, the Barcelona-based startup that has arrived to revolutionize the flower industry. This is a reference ecommerce.

Colvin was born in Barcelona by Sergi Bastardas, Andrés Cester and Marc Olmedillo with the aim of creating designer bouquets using seasonal flowers. The Barcelona-based online florist has a clear mission: to align itself with the best farmers to bring the freshest flowers from their fields. The founders toured Holland to find Winfried and his tulips, near Amsterdam, and since then they decided to bet on these sustainable fields, without chemicals or pesticides.” Getting to the Netherlands has always been a priority objective. We have worked hard to have a strong business model with guarantees of scalability and now our projections are very positive in countries that offer great opportunities for growth such as the Netherlands,” says Sergi Bastardas, COO of Colvin. Colvin differs from other brands thanks to the following characteristics:

-They create designer bouquets with seasonal flowers by expert florists. -They make the bouquets by hand in the ateliers, where they take care of every flower and every design. -They protect the bouquet in the ColvinBox and send it to your home -The flowers are of high quality freshly cut by farmers.
“At that time, we sold roses to have some money for our things. We came to have a network of more than 300 stops all over Barcelona. We learned a lot about the way the industry works, about the needs of the product and, above all, about the things we could and wanted to improve,” say the founders.

The brand, accessible to everyone, has affordable and transparent prices, in addition to offering personalized customer service. It also takes into account the time and quality of delivery of the flowers. In addition, Colvin allows you to give the Colvin Gift Card, a card that allows you to send a message along with tulips, roses, hydrangeas, etc. On Sant Jordi's Day in 2019, they opened the first physical store on Pau Clarís street, in l'Eixample, Barcelona.

“On these busy dates, we sell 20 to 30 times more than on a typical day,” says Sergi Bastardas, co-founder and chief operating officer of Colvin.
