Startup of the week: Kibus Petcare

Kibus Petcare is a Catalan startup that automatically cooks food for your pet, avoiding ultra-processed foods.

The startup Kibus Petcare found a niche in the market and took advantage of it by developing a Machine that cooks healthy food for dogs and cats automatically. Kibus Petcare was born in Igualada (Barcelona) by three entrepreneurs. Albert Icart, CEO, is part of a long career in the animal world, Albert Homs, CEO and co-founder, has worked in companies such as ColaCola and Nespresso, and finally, Marta Arisa, co-founder, knows the world of startups in depth. The Kibus Petcare appliance cooks dehydrated foods, rehydrates them, and finally places the food in a bowl. Once the food is ready, an acoustic signal sounds. In addition, food is scheduled based on your pet's feeding times. This process can also be programmed remotely.

“You just have to program the daily grams your pet needs and the number of meals a day you want them to eat,” explains Icart.

Currently, the appliance has five recipes, two for cats and three for dogs, all of them with variation and always taking into account a healthy meal, fleeing from ultra-processed foods.

“It's a great business opportunity and it's constantly growing,” Albert says.

The market price of the kitchen robot is around 199 euros, equivalent to other appliances in a similar range. The startup has received public grants, such as Startup Capital of the Government of Catalonia of 75,000 euros.

“We increasingly see our pets as members of our family, for example, in the United States, 80% of millennials consider them as children,” says Albert Icart
