Eatic grants for startups and SMEs in the Canary Islands

Through the EATIC program for high-tech and knowledge-intensive companies in RIS3 priority areas, the Government of the Canary Islands, through the Department of Universities, Science and Innovation and Culture, offers grants of up to 175,000€ for startups and SMEs in the Community.

Purpose

Promote the implementation of projects that use excellent knowledge, research results and existing capacities, in the priority areas of the Canary Islands Intelligent Specialization Strategy (RIS3).

Beneficiaries

Companies that are validly constituted at the time the application is submitted, with tax residence or permanent establishment in the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands.

Companies must have one or more employees on the date the application is submitted.

A maximum of two projects per applicant company is established.

Type of help

Non-refundable grants awarded through competitive competition, of between 60,000 and 174,990€. The intensity of the aid will be a maximum of 70% of the eligible expenditure.

Eligible projects

Eligible projects will be projects in which novel knowledge and technologies are developed or used at the sectoral level (scientific, technological, business or other) for the development of new or improved products, processes or services.

Eligible projects must be framed with the general objectives and specific objectives of the RIS3 priorities mentioned above.

Eligible expenses:

Expenses incurred as of January 1 of the year in which the call is published and until the end of the period for carrying out the activity will be attributable. Among them:

  • New fixed assets that are not of the nature of replacement.
  • Intangible investments: patents, licenses, know-how or software related to new products or services.
  • Costs of technical knowledge and patents acquired or obtained by license from external sources at market prices, provided that the transaction was carried out under conditions of full competition.
  • Registration of patents, brands, utility models and industrial designs, CE marking or other forms of approval or standardization of products or services.
  • External collaborations such as technical assistance, engineering, contracting with research centers, design, contracting of testing laboratory services, external consulting and tutoring expenses, as well as costs of advisory services and innovation support related to the project.
  • The personnel costs necessary for the execution of the operation. Only those personnel expenses related to activities that the entity would not carry out if it did not carry out the operation in question will be bankable.

Assessment and assessment criteria:

  • Creation of jobs (up to 25 points).
  • Improved competitiveness (up to 30 points).
  • Protection and improvement of the environment (up to 25 points).
  • Forecast of the internationalization of the company's activity (production or service destination: other island/s, other national territory, European Union and other destinations (up to 20 points).
