Over the past year (2019), Wayra invested 1.4 billion euros in nine startups, some of them focused on Cybersecurity, Big Data, Virtual Reality, Energy, and others. All of them are aligned with the company's strategy and in mature stages, and they also bring innovation to Telefónica and its customer network.Wayra has invested an average of 150,000 euros per company to help startups grow and develop in the ecosystem. In addition to monetary investment, Wayra connects participating startups with key Telefónica business areas, such as Data Analytics, IoT, etc. In this regard, the invested startups also have access to Wayra's global network in Europe and Latin America, with the investment community and with hub experts.
“In 2019, Telefónica brought its customers technological solutions from Wayra startups worth 32M€. This represents an opportunity for Wayra startups to reach millions of customers around the world and to be able to scale with us,” says the director of Wayra Spain, Andrés Saborido.
