Canarias Stars 2025: Grants of up to 120,000 euros for start-ups in the Canary Islands

The Canarias Stars 2025 call has a total budget of 2 M€ and seeks to support emerging companies and promote innovative entrepreneurship in strategic sectors defined in the Spanish Strategy for Science, Technology and Innovation 2021-2027.

Lines:  

  • Type A actions: Total budget of 400,000€, to support and advise emerging Canarian companies, encouraging carrying out disruptive innovation projects in the Canary Islands, as well as promoting their participation in national and international projects.
  • Type B actions: Total budget of 1.4 M€, aimed at public or private entities that play a facilitating role to promote the development of disruptive innovation projects in emerging Canarian companies that emerged from the business fabric or from the university environment.
  • Type C actions: Total budget of 200,000€ for the support of processes of knowledge and technology transfer, and demand for innovation in Canarian companies, through collaborations with emerging companies and knowledge agents at local, national or international levels, following open innovation models.

ANDpublic and private entities, including emerging Canarian companies.

Type of aid

Non-competitive grants of between 30,000 and 120,000€ for projects that fall within the framework of type A or C actions and between 25,000 and 50,000€ for those framed in type B actions.

The intensity of the aid will be 100% of the eligible expenditure, provided that the limits of the grant per project allow it.

The payment of the grant will be made in advance

Main requirements of the Canarias Stars 2025 grant

  • The execution period of the project will have a maximum duration of 12 months.
  • Beneficiary entities must have 60% of their workforce with an employment contract in the Canary Islands. In cooperatives, working members and working partners, whose relationship is of a corporate nature, will be counted within the workforce, for the sole purpose of the aforementioned percentage.
  • Have the registered office and tax office in the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands.
  • Have your own legal personality.

Eligible expenses

Type A and C actions

  • Expenses of own personnel linked to the action or project during its development, including the corresponding Social Security contributions, which may include expenses of a maximum of 5 working people.
  • Travel expenses (travel and accommodation), corresponding to the staff in the previous section, provided that they are for the purpose of carrying out commercial or training actions (maximum 10,000€)
  • External collaborations and consultancies when they are necessary and appropriate for the development of the proposed actions and/or projects and are directly related to them.
  • Audit Report (maximum 1,200€).

Type B actions

  • New fixed assets, which are not of the nature of replacement.
  • Intangible investments: licenses, know-how or software related to new products or services, Costs of acquired technical knowledge and patents, registration of patents, brands, utility models and industrial designs, CE marking or other forms of approval or standardization of products or services. Only expenses related to the registration of industrial property derived from the execution of the project will be eligible.
  • External collaborations: technical assistance; engineering; contracting with research centers or other companies
  • Audit Report (maximum 1,200€).
  • Own personnel expenses linked to the action or project during its development, including the corresponding Social Security contributions, which may include expenses of a maximum of 5 workers.
  • Travel expenses (travel and accommodation), corresponding to the staff in the previous section, provided that they are for the purpose of carrying out commercial or training actions (maximum 6,000€).

Documents required when applying for Stars 2025 grants

  • Report of the project for which a grant is being requested.
  • Breakdown budget of the project to be developed.
  • Financing plan and forecasting income and expenses.

Deadline for submitting applications

From January 15 until the total available budget is exhausted or, otherwise, March 31, 2025.
