The Government, through the Center for Technological and Industrial Development (CDTI), has just published the NEOTEC 2020 call. This is a line of grants that is published annually and that it is aimed at newly created technology-based companies.
What is the purpose of the CDTI NEOTEC grant?
- Neotec seeks to promote technology and innovation, two highly competitive factors for business development.- The call will finance innovative startups and SMEs that require the use of technologies or knowledge developed from research activity and on which the business strategy is based on the development of its own technology.- Specifically, Neotec will partially finance the creation phase of a technology-based company. The company must have an R&D plan Of course and of High a technological level. The objective is to support novice entrepreneurs, not to support the diversification of other existing companies or established entrepreneurs.
What type of funding is it?
Neotec finances up to 70% of the budget of each of the business projects that qualify for the program, as long as they are projects of at least 175,000 euros. Each grant may be up to 250,000 euros per beneficiary.
What are Neotec's requirements?
Applicant companies: - They must be incorporated, at most, in the Three years prior to the closing date of the deadline for submitting applications (15 June 2020) and at least, 6 months before.- They must have a minimum share capital of 20,000 euros.- They should be technology-based companies, whose activity focuses on the exploitation of products or services that require the use of technologies or knowledge developed from research activity.
What costs are eligible?
- Investments in fixed assets.- Personnel expenses.- Material expenditure.- External collaborations.- Other costs.
Is Neotec compatible with other aids?
Neotec grants are fully compatible with aid from other administrations, public or private entities, both national and international.
What additional guarantees are you asking for?
They do not require guarantees of any kind (the warranty is the project itself).
How is the payment of aid made?
The aid is disbursed in two sections. The first tranche is made by bank transfer 15 days after signing the contract for 40, 50 or 60% (depending on the result of the evaluation) of the total amount of the approved aid. The second tranche, for the remaining amount, is carried out once the final amount of the project's expenses and investments has been credited to the CDTI (therefore, it is not received until the project is finished).
Neotec figures
The Neotec 2020 call plans to finance more than 100 startup and SME projects in any technological and sectorial field. During the period 2016 to 2019, CDTI has approved a total of 464 NEOTEC projects, with a total budget of 189,247,598 million euros. CDTI has provided 96,732,439 euros in the form of public aid for the development and promotion of these projects.
How to apply for NEOTEC 2020?
The call has already been published and its starting date for applications will be April 15, 2020. It will remain open until June 15 at 12:00 noon, this period being the maximum delivery time. However, these deadlines may be modified later if the exceptional alert situation is prolonged due to COVID-19.
