The objective of this second call for the Missions program, framed in the National Plan for Recovery, Transformation and Resilience, and aligned with the Spain 2050 initiative, is to support those projects that propose solutions to two specific challenges: To be more productive to grow better” and “To become a carbon-neutral, sustainable and resilient society to climate change”.
Following the same line as the previous call, the objective of the grants is develop multi-sector and multi-technological R&D initiatives that respond to the country's needs and contribute to achieving some of the previously identified challenges:
- Promote 21st century Spanish agriculture: sustainable, intelligent, efficient in the consumption of water resources and agricultural inputs and adapted to Climate Change.
- Promote safe, efficient and clean energy for the 21st century.
- Promote Spanish industry in the industrial revolution of the 21st century.
- Promoting the circular economy through new technologies for the recycling and recovery of polymer composite waste in Spain
- Promotion of information security, privacy and cybersecurity in the 21st century Spanish economy and society.
- Promote sustainable and intelligent intermodal transport.
- Promote the development of tourism by exploiting the possibilities of technology.
- Promote technological progress and training in the Spanish biopharmaceutical industry to promote R&D actions in the field of advanced therapies, vaccines and targeted therapies.
- Boosting high-performance computing.
Thus, the entity will evaluate the projects by their degree of innovation, and the contribution to the country's needs must be key. There are two project categories: Large Companies and SMEs.
Budget for Large Companies: Minimum of 5,000,000 euros and maximum of 10,000,000 euros. The minimum eligible budget per company is 175,000 euros. At least 20% of the eligible budget must be outsourced to Knowledge Generating Centres and industrial research activities must account for at least 60% of the project. The projects must involve the participation of between 3 and 8 companies.
Budget for SMEs: Minimum of 1,500,000 euros and maximum of 3,000,000 euros. The minimum eligible budget per company is 175,000 euros. Industrial research activities must represent at least 35% of the eligible budget. At least 15% of the eligible budget must be outsourced to Knowledge Generating Centers. The projects must involve the participation of between 3 and 6 companies.
Type of funding: Non-refundable grants with a maximum intensity of between 25% and 80% of the project (depending on the type of the project itself and the size of the company), in the form of competitive competition. Beneficiaries may receive up to a maximum of 60% of the amount granted as an advance payment, after the final resolution, without the need for guarantees.
Eligible expenses:
- Personnel costs.
- Costs of inventoriable instruments and material.
- Contract research costs.
- General expenses and other additional operating expenses.
Deadline for submitting applications: Until 06/09/2021.
