Red.es: 2021 Grants for Research and Development Projects in Artificial Intelligence and other digital technologies and their integration into value chains

Grants to promote Artificial Intelligence, one of the main objectives set out in the Digital Spain 2025 Plan.

Red.es works to promote the promotion and development of the information society in Spain. Through this new call, the entity aims to promote Artificial Intelligence, one of the main objectives set out in the Digital Spain 2025 Plan.

-Beneficiaries: Technology-based companies capable of developing research and development projects in artificial intelligence.

-Type of help: Grants with a maximum intensity that will vary between 25 and 80% of the eligible costs depending on the type of the project and the size of the beneficiary company. Thus, the maximum aid intensities of the eligible costs are defined as:

Industrial Research Projects

-Small business: 70%
-Medium-sized company: 60%
-Rest of companies: 50%

Industrial research projects with wide dissemination of results.

-Small business: 80%
-Medium-sized company: 75%
-Rest of companies: 65%

Experimental development projects.

-Small business: 45%
-Medium-sized company: 35%
-Rest of companies: 25%

Experimental development projects with wide dissemination of results.

-Small business: 60%
-Medium-sized company: 50%
-Rest of companies: 40%

On the other hand, the budget of the call is divided into:

-50M euros for industrial research projects

-55M euros for experimental development projects.

In addition, if the beneficiaries so request, Red.es will make an advance payment of up to 100% of the total aid granted.

-Main requirements: Eligible projects must: -Be considered as industrial research and experimental development projects. -Involve the development of actions related to any of the following digital technologies:

-Artificial intelligence: machine learning; deep learning; neural networks.
-Internet of Things (IoT).
-Mass data and information processing technologies (Open/Linked/Big Data).
-High performance computing.
-Cloud computing.
-Natural language processing.
-Cybersecurity; biometrics and digital identity. -Blockchain (Blockchain).
-Robotics.
-Virtual and augmented reality, special effects and simulation.
-3D printing and additive manufacturing.

-Have a budget of between 500,000€ and 10M € in the case of industrial research projects and between 300,000€ and 5M € in the case of experimental development projects.

On the other hand, the same entity may be the beneficiary of the grants, which must have an incentive effect on the activity subject to them, for a maximum of 3 projects.

-Evaluation Criteria: To be eligible for aid, applications must meet the minimum thresholds for each of the previously established criteria. These evaluation criteria are defined in:

-Strategy, market and exploitation of results: 15/30-
Technology and Innovation: 0/30
-Team management and collaboration skills: 0/20
-Economic and financial viability of the entity: 5/10
-Socio-economic impact and gender equality: 0/10

Deadline for submitting applications: Until 08/10/2021.
