The minister took advantage of the inauguration of the XI European Conference on Gender Equality in Higher Education to present the different measures being carried out by the ministry with the purpose of moving towards real equality in the field of science and innovation.
In a world where only 28% of science personnel are women, the need to reduce the gender gap in the field of science and research to achieve real equality is evident. Aware of this, the Ministry of Science and Innovation is working to give visibility to the existence of the gender gap and Raise awareness in society about the consequences of it.
Along the same lines, Minister Diana Morant took advantage of the inauguration of the XI European Conference on Gender Equality in Higher Education to stress the importance of To add women to the scientific and research career, which implies “integrating the gender dimension into all projects in any area”.
With the main objective of encouraging greater leadership and presence of women in the fields of research, technology and innovation: where the main quality jobs of the future are located; the minister also announced that the government is preparing mentoring and management skills training programs in collaboration with the country's main science, technology and research agents. In addition, creating a gender equality badge in R+D+i to achieve egalitarian, inclusive and co-responsible research environments in all research centers was another of the measures proposed by the ministry during the opening ceremony.
Finally, the minister announced the launch, scheduled for the end of this year, of the First call that through the CDTI the ministry will launch, aimed exclusively at supporting women's technological entrepreneurship. The call, which will have more than 5M euros, will have the capacity to finance at least 15 new companies, whose promoting teams and whose capital will continue to be in the hands of women at the end of the project. This will make it possible to promote the existence of more women leaders who motivate the new generations.
