CDTI 2024: Funding Programs for Innovative Companies

Through CDTI loans, the State encourages innovation and technological development in Spanish companies.

CDTI 2024: The CDTI acts to achieve its objectives by granting its own financial aid as well as providing Spanish companies with access to financing provided by third parties, both at the national and international levels.

PID CDTI (Research and Development Projects)

Partially repayable loans for R+D+i

For industrial research or experimental development projects that involve the significant improvement of a production process, product or service.

Applicant companies must have a scientific-technical degree of quality and a potential market for the developments they are going to carry out.

Projects, between 12 and 36 months in duration, must not start at the date of the request for the aid.

This is a current loan with a non-refundable tranche (TNR) of at most 33% of the aid (depending on the characteristics of the project) and with coverage of up to 85% of the approved amount.

The minimum budget that can be financed by the CDTI PID Program is 175,000€ for individual projects and 500,000€ for consortium projects.

CERVERA Program

Partially refundable loans for R+D+i

For individual research and business development projects lasting between 12 and 36 months, led by SMEs and MidCaps with tax domicile in Spain in collaboration with one or more technology centers, whose participation in the project must be at least 10%.

This is a current loan with a non-refundable tranche (TNR), with coverage of up to 85% of the total budget.

LIC CDTI (Direct Line to Innovation)

Partially repayable loans for Technological Innovation

For projects that involve investment or expenditure in innovative techniques or technologies or the substantial improvement of processes, products or services.

Projects, whose maximum duration is 18 months, must not have started before the date of application for the aid.

This is a subsidized loan to be returned through an amortization of 4 or 6 years (including in both cases a year of grace period).

The minimum budget that can be financed by the CDTI LIC Program is 175,000€, in any case, the maximum coverage is 85% of the total approved budget.

The LIC A Program (Direct Line to Expansion) was born as a variant of the LIC Program to promote innovation in different Spanish regions.

This is partially reimbursable aid, whose maximum coverage is 75% of the approved budget.

The maximum execution period for projects, which must have a budget of between 175,000 and 30 M euros, is 18 months.

CDTI MISSIONS

Grants for cooperative research projects led by companies.

For cooperative research projects led by companies that respond to the country's needs.

The conditions for applying for aid vary depending on the line to which the project belongs: Large companies or SMEs.

In the case of large companies, projects must involve the participation of between 3 and 8 companies and industrial research activities must represent at least 60% of the project.

With regard to projects led by SMEs, they must have the participation of between 3 and 6 companies and industrial research activities must represent at least 35.5% of the eligible project.

These are non-refundable grants with a maximum intensity of between 25% and 80% of the project (depending on the type of the project itself and the size of the company).

In any case, the minimum eligible budget per company is 175,000 euros.

NEOTEC CDTI

Grants for technology-based startups

For high-tech R&D plans developed by small innovative companies between 6 months and 3 years old, with a tax address in Spain and a minimum capital of €20,000.

These are non-refundable grants of up to 250,000€ or 70% of the total project budget.

The projects submitted must have a minimum fundable budget of €175,000.

For its concession, the CDTI does not require guarantees other than the justification of the project itself.

CIEN Program

Funding for projects in an R+D+i consortium

For national industrial research and experimental development projects lasting between 36 and 48 months, developed by business consortiums made up of between 3 and 8 companies (including a company in the capacity of an SME and a publicly owned organization).

A minimum of 15% of the budget must be allocated to outsourcing activities to research organizations.

This is a current loan with a non-refundable tranche (TNR) of a maximum of 33% of the aid and with coverage of up to 85% of the approved amount.

The minimum budget that can be financed by the CDTI CIEN Program is €4,500,000 per project and €175,000 per company.

Co-investment with private investors specialized in innovative companies

To encourage investment in innovative companies with a high technological level. Through Innvierte, the CDTI delegates the management of participating companies to investors, who, in addition to providing capital, provide their experience in strategy, positioning and management of technology companies.
